Sunday Special V

So, yesterday I concluded with all that I had gotten to since I last posted. I got several movies out for my friend and I, but we only got to Monte Carlo and Bride Wars, and much of it I returned since they were mostly rewatches for me. I bought Monsters University and Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters, for Christmas for my siblings, and I also receieved Psych: Season 7. I still have Vampire Diaries: Season 1 checked out, minus the 2nd disc, but I still haven't started it yet. I'm dying to watch The Day of the Doctor and the Christmas Special and the Sherlock short, but I don't know when I'll get around to it with our horrible internet plan. The following is all else I still have out at the moment...

Bought:

Despicable Me 2

Borrowed:

Durarara!!
Part 02, Discs 1 & 2

Flashback Friday V ~ Saturday Edition

So I'm pretty far behind in posts on both my blogs but I really wanted to at least have one last summarization before the end of the month/year. It seems I missed 2 Sunday, midweek, and Friday posts each... I hate being disorganized, but oh well. I got several movies but some I returned since they were rewatches, some I already watched, and some I haven't gotten to just yet. So tomorrow I'll post a list of the ones I got that I haven't watched. Today I'm just going to list, as best I can, what I've gotten to since my last post.

My next midweek post will probably be favorite characters, and then the anime edition, but I won't get to that until next month sometime, most likely. I usually do a year end list of books on my blog, but that seems harder with movies, so I won't do that, or a month sumerization, since that is also harder. I might do more lists beginning next month/year, though I don't ever think I will do a currently watching post at the beginning of each month like I do one my other blog. So I might do a plan to watch post, but we'll just have to wait and see. I'm pretty much just thinking aloud here... xD I'll stop rambling now...

So anyway... Here's, to the best of my knowledge, what I've gotten to over these past two weeks of hiatus....

The Reel IV

So I really wanted to do this yesterday, but I've just been having a rough past couple of days and never got around to it. Right now, I should be preparing for my last final tomorrow, but I still wanted to try and do this. Hopefully, my posts for both blogs will be a bit more organized and on time, and I will actually get to say all that I want to say. Right now, I just feel rushed. But anyway, Fridays over on my book blog are really for talking about the week, so it's really okay... I might possibly go back and tweak some of the more recent posts, due to this rushing and the limited internet of last week.

Here's a quick list of tv shows I would really like to try out (does not include ones I have all ready started):

Terra Nova
The Hollow Crown
Battlestar Galactica
Buffy: The Vampire Slayer
The Vampire Diaries
Stargate
Copper
Primeval: New World

I've also gathered the whole first season of Vampire Diaries over the past few weeks, but I haven't started the first disc yet so I am not counting that....

Flashback Friday III

I decided that my method of posting organization was frustrating me a bit, so I’m going to change things around slightly. I will post my Currently Watching for December post sometime next week. I’m leaving my Friday posts for what I’ve gotten to over the week, as well as possibly what I’m focusing on at the moment. Sunday’s post will from now on be for what I’ve gotten to watch for the following week, if I haven’t gotten to it all ready. This seems to work best for my book blog, though it might be slightly different on here since I’ll get to some stuff before my Friday post. Anywho! I’ll list what I’ve bought/borrowed (and that I haven’t gotten to yet), starting on Sunday. Here’s a list of what I’m currently watching, as well as what I managed to get to this past week. (I'm gonna tweak this post once the internet resets)

The Reel III

So I am a day behind in this...I'm surprised I even got to my Tuesday post for my book blog this week. So many deadlines! I was feeling really stressed out Sunday and Monday, but things took a turn for the better on Tuesday and I'm not quite as freaked out as I was...or as I probably still should be...but more on that in my book blog's Friday post...

This week I decided to list my TBW anime series, since I put one together last week sometime. I'm actually still hunting down series that I can actually watch... This list does not include series that I have all ready started, or a few that I am unsure about at the moment. I was able to get my hands on a new one last week, surprisingly, and I put another on hold that I stopped a long time ago, to restart, but I'll mention that in this blog's Friday post...I also bought some because of Cyber Monday Week deals. :O So excited!!! They came today! But anyway....later on that.

So here's my TBW anime series list!!! (alphabetical order)

Sunday Special III

So for this week, I kind of put some series off or am waiting for my family to catch up or my family is re~watching episodes I have all ready seen. I'm still holding off on Vampire Diaries, because I'm trying to find something more lighthearted in the mean time. I'm not going to have a whole lot of time this week because of finals coming up. And I would really like to get better internet and Netflix because it would be just so much easier to get my hands on certain series, especially anime. So anyway...

Finished:

I finished Hakuoki: Season 1! *sobs bitterly* And our library doesn't have the rest, so I am debating getting the remainder from Amazon...but I just spent alot on Black Friday and I wasn't able to use my gift~card, either. It seems it has to be the exact amount or less, which really bugs me... But anyway, I truly truly loved this series! It's always hard finding another after you finish one you really enjoyed, but I'm trying...

Currently Watching:

Supernatural
Season 8, Ep 23
I'm on the last episode and I can't start season 9 afterwards, for reasons previously mentioned. I'm afraid to finish it now! Gah!

Flashback Friday II

So I didn't get to much this week, on account of my not feeling well beginning of the week, procrastinating in other ways to avoid hw, and yeah...I'm surprised with myself for not watching more since I had time. I even started Break a day earlier on Tuesday on account of two classes canceling because of the weather and my not feeling well enough to go to the third. But I also went to bed earlier alot this week while my family continued to watch things and I've spent more of my time avoiding watching the remainder of Supernatural and Hakuoki than actually watching something... I also tortured myself by hunting down alot of anime series to watch after the intensity of Supernatural...but most I'd have to either purchase or watch online, which I can't. *pouts* I could start Vampire Diaries and continue with Once Upon a Time, but I guess I'm just worn out and nothing relaxing is relaxing because I've just got too much looming over me. So even my procrastinating isn't even working right anymore. I'm just very on edge, stressed and tense and anxious and blegh...

Anyway...here's what little I got to this week... (I've decided to count not from Sunday but from Friday to Friday, so alot of this was from last weekend, actually)

Watched:

Blue Bloods
Season 1, Eps. 13-16

I also found some great Black Friday Deals, so here is what I ordered earlier on today...

The Reel II

So for this week's edition of The Reel, I decided to make a list of my favorite anime. Some I have not finished with yet... It's harder listing these since there are several I'm not done with or I watched strictly because of reading the manga beforehand or I'm not really sure what my opinion is on them just yet. Some I watched subbed, others dubbed. I'm come to appreciate the subbed since the voices always seem to fit better, even if it is a strain on the eyes to read along. I even debated just making a list of all the anime I've watched, liked or not, but I might do that in a later post...

So for now, here's my definite favorite anime series. I decided to list first 5 favorites and then 5 honorable mentions....

Favorite Anime Series

Hands down, this is my all time favorite anime. I watched it dubbed, but I still really enjoyed it, especially with most of the voices that they chose. One of my friends introduced me to this during the summer and I probably watched it all within three days. I'm still working on the manga for this one: it's a bit older and harder to get through. I would definitely recommend the anime, though.

I think I found this one shortly after I finished Ouran. I think I'm come to enjoy the more girly anime better than the battle ones. There's always more plot, even if it is a bit goofy at times, and there's definitely more humor. Of course, that also means there's more fan-service, but...you come to expect that from most anime.

And then I think I found this shortly after Maid Sama! so you can start to see the pattern of girly, humorous anime here. Before most of these, I had just watched parts of battle anime, bases upon the manga series I had read. While I did like parts of some of those, they always strayed from the main story with filler episodes or had very dull points to them so I did not enjoy them as much as these more lighthearted series.

I haven't finished this one quite yet, but I reeeally like what I've seen. It was originally a visual novel, and then the anime was based on the otome game. So basically, reverse harem. The art of this series is beautiful, so I blame that as my reason for watching all these beautifully drawn characters...which just so happen to be guys... ;P I've heard some people complain about it being slow, and very short, and I do sometimes wish it was longer, with more plot, but I think the art more than makes up for that.

I as introduced to this series the first time I checked out our campus Anime Club, and I instantly fell in love with it. *coughs* Reverse Harem, again. But it's beautiful, and I like when a series stays true to real life Japanese culture. The more fantasy series are harder to take seriously, and while I do like some that are set in England, this feels more authentic.

Honorable Mentions

Okay, while I am mad at how off plot this series got, and I never watched the second series, I will admit that I did enjoy parts of this anime.

There was the occasional filler episode with this, like any anime, and while Allen's voice didn't fit at all, and I kept cracking up because the guy who voiced Kanda also voiced Knuckles from the Sonic series, I did watch the first season and I did enjoy most of it.

I've only seen a few episodes of this anime, but the same friend who introduced to me to Ouran watched this with me. I really liked it so far, having a bit more trouble with the manga, though. Sometimes it feels slow, but it was a very pretty anime and I would like to finish it sometime, though I would have to do so online...

Fruits Basket
Same friend, with Ouran and Earl, watched the first few episodes of this with me and then I finished it myself. It was alittle bit slower, but I still really enjoyed it. The plot was interesting and I really like several of the main characters. It's a more lighter anime, except the ending feels more intense than you'd expect.

Vampire Knight
I actually really like this one, and might eventually move it to the favorites. I watched this after reading the manga and while I was annoyed that it didn't follow it very well, and sometimes it felt slow, I also really liked it over all. Well, heck, it's a vampire anime, so yeah, I liked it. :P I have yet to watch the second series, which I would either have to watch online or purchase.

What about you? Have any favorites or suggestions?
